Seeking a horse trainer who is also an experienced breeding manager. Duties include both live cover and artificial insemination. Almost all horses on site have been born here and have been sired by stallions who have produced at least one million dollars in cutting, reining, or stock horse events. Though there are 24 horses on site, most of them are trained reining horses ranging in age from 35 to 7 and do not need to be trained. The trainer would be responsible for keeping the stallions ridden and starting/finishing 4 young horses. Most of the current staff consists of eager to learn young adults who have worked here for over 3 years and would be available to to help tack up, exercise, or warm up any of the horses being worked with. There are no boarders nor training of outside horses. Recently the farm focus changed to using four of our home raised stallions to breed our mares. The stallions are taken to an adjoining part of our farm to be collected and there is no breeding of stallions on the riding or training portion of the facility.

Requirements

The farm has been located at the current site for over 30 years and works closely with major community organizations such as the local college which has a program for helping young adults with learning difficulties discover the benefits of having a job in the equine industry. Though we own only 40 acres the back of the farm adjoins 1000s of acres of land where we frequently take our horses to help our neighbor with his cattle, The road on the front on the property is within walking distance of Walmart, Chili’s, Home Depot, Starbucks, several hospitals, and more. We are located in Texas half way between Houston and Galveston. The URL of a very outdated website listed below gives an overview of what is done on the farm. www.brigadoon-farm.org
