We have an opportunity for an experienced & professional Stable Hand/Groom to join our family Showjumping team based in Mount White, on the NSW Central Coast, Australia. The stable/barn is run to a high standard with an emphasis on attention to detail & top care for all the horses.
Working as part of a team & working to a high standard, duties & responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Ensuring all horses are accurately & correctly supplied with their feeds/ supplements & stock is maintained. • Identifying any injuries & health issues, reporting these accurately, treating them accordingly in line with any vet/physio recommendations • Tacking/ untacking horses at home, training & competitions around Australia. • Riding & lunging/exercising fit competition horses • Organising & packing/unpacking trucks & vehicles for competitions. • Turning out horses to a high level - inc. clipping, trimming & plaiting for competitions. • Ensuring the facility is clean & tidy at all times, which includes mucking out stables when required.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Experience working in a professional competition barn/stable.
- Must be competent in handling horses of all sizes including large, fit competition horses
- Experience in bandaging, wound care, administering medications & providing general first aid
- Familiarity with FEI rules & regulations regarding treatments etc
- Experience and confidence in driving horse trucks / floats (licence to drive a medium/heavy ridged truck is highly desirable, however not essential)
The ability to work as part of a team as well as an individual is essential, as is a positive “can do” attitude.
Love for the horse & the sport are most important.
