One or two year apprenticeships If you are thinking of learning more about a career with horses, you might like to apply for an apprenticeship with Wimbledon Village Stables, especially if you fit the following description: • You are between 16 and 18 years old • You are in education or just finishing education • You would like to become a better rider • You are looking for hands-on experience • You would enjoy learning from qualified, experienced and successful equestrians • One of your aims is to become a valued member of a team at a quality yard • You would like to earn as well as learn. Wimbledon Village Stables is a very successful British Horse Society approved riding school and livery yard. We are offering apprenticeships that will allow you to learn and develop as you work with our horses on a day to day basis. In order to qualify for one of our apprenticeships, you need experience in caring for horses; you must demonstrate a good work ethic and be physically fit; you should enjoy interacting with people – whether adults or children, clients or visitors – and be able to provide the friendly welcome that is a hallmark of Wimbledon Village Stables. You must be willing to put in 40 hour weeks, including a weekend day, as is the case with all our staff, whether qualified or apprentices.
Requirements
You will work as part of the team in taking care of our 25 horses, as well as undertaking general yard duties, preparing horses for lessons and working with our qualified instructors to help our members and clients. Along the way, you will pick up plenty of information on the practical aspects of running a successful riding school and come to appreciate the unseen hard work that is required to ensure we can deliver the top quality service on which we pride ourselves – our top priorities are excellent care of our horses as well as ensuring safe and enjoyable rides for our members and clients. Many of the skills you will develop will be invaluable to you in your future career – whatever it may ultimately be – as you will experience first class customer care, excellent team work and the administrative/back office tasks that underpin any successful business. You will be surprised by how much you can learn and we can guarantee that an apprenticeship at Wimbledon Village Stables will help to equip you for the rest of your life. Please contact us if you are interested as we would welcome the opportunity to help you take the first steps towards a professional equestrian career.
Job Benefits
We expect everyone to work together to ensure that our members, clients and visitors receive the same high standard of customer service from all our staff – you are all representatives of Wimbledon Village Stables and, as such, highly valued and much appreciated, making a vital contribution to the various business awards that we have won in recent years. Our apprenticeships last one year but can be extended to two years. Your career development and qualification targets will be set and monitored by Haddon Training – there will be regular visits to assess your progress. We also offer to train all our apprentices towards the British Horse Society exams as we like to encourage our employees to become qualified riding instructors.
