Greatwood Charity is seeking a versatile individual for this newly created dual-role. Following the departure of a long-term staff member, we have restructured our team and are looking for a new team member to bridge the gap between estates maintenance and high-standard equine care.
Essential Residency & Work Status Non-Live-In: This position does not come with accommodation. Right to Work: You must have the permanent right to work in the UK. We cannot offer visa sponsorship.
The Role This is a "hands-on" role where you will support both the grounds and the equine team. Your time will be split between:
Yard & Land Management:
- Maintenance and repair of post-and-rail fencing, gates, and stable fixtures.
- Operating a tractor and quad bike for harrowing, topping, and paddock maintenance.
- General DIY, equipment upkeep, and ensuring the yard remains safe and tidy.
Equine Support
- Assisting the grooming team with daily care, mucking out, and handling.
- Handling former racehorses quietly and professionally.
- Driving: Operating a 3.5-tonne horsebox as required.
About You We are looking for a "jack-of-all-trades" who takes pride in a job well done. Confident with machinery (tractors/quads) and basic repairs/maintenance. Competent handling horses and a solid understanding of yard routine. A proactive, "can-do" attitude, you are someone who notices a broken latch and fixes it without being asked. Physically fit and happy to work outdoors in all weather, including some weekends.
Why Join Us? At Greatwood, you will play a key part in the retraining and welfare of former racehorses. We offer a professional, supportive environment where your varied skill set will be truly valued and utilised.
This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
